The Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter at Michigan Technological University hosted Ian Haworth for a free event on March 20th at 7 PM in Fisher Hall, Room 139. Young America's Foundation sponsored this event as part of the Preserving American Liberty & Freedom Lecture Series. Ian talked about freedom, and after his speech, he engaged in a Q&A discussion with audience members that covered topics of freedom, religion, and the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Ian is a conservative writer, speaker, and podcast host. Originally from the United Kingdom, he moved to the United States after graduating from Oxford University with both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Science. Before entering the political commentary arena, Ian worked in Silicon Valley as a Software Engineer, spending almost four years at Facebook, specifically on their "Misinformation" team as part of the "Fact-Checking" organization.
Ian later joined The Daily Wire to speak out against the growing anti-conservative sentiment in Big Tech and to advocate for fundamental American conservative principles from his perspective as an immigrant from the U.K. While at The Daily Wire, he created news and commentary articles and videos, and served as a voice on the popular daily news show "Morning Wire." Ian has also been published in Townhall.com, The American Mind, The Washington Examiner, The Daily Caller, The Times of Israel, The Federalist, and numerous other news and media outlets. Ian also regularly speaks on college campuses and appears on television and radio outlets, including Fox Business, One America News Network, and Newsmax.
In preparation for this event, haters of YAF students launched a campaign to tear, remove, and cover event advertisement posters again. Two anti-YAF students were caught on camera. See these video clips:
