YAF in the Broomball Tourney

Broomball is one of the most popular winter sports at Michigan Tech. It is similar to hockey but different, without a need for costly equipment. The “broomball ice rink” is much smaller than hockey ice rink. The players do not wear skates and instead play on foot. The hockey sticks are replaced with taped brooms. And finally, the players use a ball instead of a puck. Each team is made of a goalie, two defensemen and three forwards, identical to a hockey team. At Michigan Tech, three broomball ice rinks are prepared each year. Teams of students representing various disciplines, fraternities, and organizations compete from January through the entire winter. This year the students from Young Americans for Freedom dressed in their own-designed jerseys and entered the competition. The cost of jerseys was covered from funds collected by Huskies for America. Thanks to all donors!

Good luck YAF team! We are rooting for you!
