On Sunday (Sept. 11th), Michigan Tech students from the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) organization set up murals and American flags for each citizen who was killed in the 9/11/2001 attacks. This annual YAF event commemorates 2,977 people killed in coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. It was heartwarming to see so many YAF students setting up the flags on the Walker Lawn between 8 am and 9:30 am. The flags were taken down at 6:30 pm. Many other Michigan Tech students stopped by and had friendly conversations with YAF students.
