Veterans Share Their Experiences on Veterans' Day

On Thursday November 11th, during the Celebrating our Veterans event, part of the Freedom Week organized by the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Michigan Tech, three local veterans shared their experiences with participants of the event:

Retired US Air Force Sergeant John M. Weirauch, spoke of his motivation for joining the military, his experience and the valuable things he learned while in the U. S. Air Force. He also shared some of the difficulties in readjusting to civilian life.

Retired US Army Captain Michelle Kovachich talked about the reason for joining the ROTC program at Michigan Tech and her experiences in the U.S. Army. She also went into great detail on her present role counseling veterans in the local area. Her entire speech is documented (link).

Retired US Army Sergeant First Class Jonathan French explained how he came to volunteer for active duty after 9 -11 at the age of 32. He also described his experiences in the U.S. Army that led up to his being wounded in Afghanistan. Jon went on to share what Veterans Day meant to him.
